野菜を切る包丁の軽やかなリズム、味噌汁がクツクツと煮える音、ご飯の炊き上がったにおい、それらは私の食欲を誘う。食卓を包んでいる空気は、私を温かい気持ちにしてくれる。その中で、毎日使っている食器だが、自分の使っている食器というものもまた、大きな安心感を与えてくれるものではないだろうか。そこで、私が小学生の時から15年間使い続け、ボロボロになったお椀を新たな物へと、そして思い出の上に思い出を重ねてゆける様な物に作りかえてみようと考えた。 手法は、燃やしてしまうという一見、思い出を残すという意味では正反対の方法である。しかし、燃やして炭化するという意味で、お椀の表情はがらりとかわり、尚且つ、もうこれ以上決してかわらないモノにすることができる。有機物から無機物へ。思い出は新たなる思い出へ旅立つ。 「炭椀」の完成である。

The jaunty rhythm of a kitchen knife that cuts vegetables, the sound of miso soup simmering, and the smell of steamed rice just cooked, all of which arouse my appetite.The atmosphere that surrounds the dining table gives me a warm feeling.Among them, there is the tableware that I use every day. I was wondering if the tableware itself also gives me a great feeling of relief. So, I thought that I try to reinvent a worn-out bowl that I’ve been using for 15 years since I was in elementary school, into a new one that I can accumulate memories over and over.The method I used is burning which sounds like the opposite in the sense of leaving a memory. However, in the sense that I burned it and carbonized it, the expression of the bowl changes completely, and I can make it into something that will never change anymore.Make the organic matter into inorganic matter.Memories set off for new memories.The “Sumi Wan = Charcoal bowl” is completed.
